How to Import MXF files to Edius Pro (6/7/8) for Editing?
As a gift, you maybe want to do this: spend much time recording wonderful video about your love story; import the camera MXF file into Edius Pro (6/7/8) or other video editing tool to edit; then present the video produce to your girlfriend. How romantic! But there will be a little barrier on the way. Not all the camera MXF files, like the video recorded by Panasonic DVCPro HD, can be accepted by Edius Pro 6/7/8. The codec that some cameras use is not supported by Edius Pro.
What a disappointing fact! You may say you can change a video editing too. You can edit this MXF file in Premiere Pro CC. Unfortunately, MXF still has import issue on Premiere Pro CC. Will you have to give up this fantastic idea about editing love video with Edius Pro? No, you won’t. You should thank me for sharing my experience about editing MXF file on Edius Pro.
The fact is that I used a third party Video Converter to change camera MXF file to Edius Pro playable MPEG-4 MP4 format. Now, let me show you the step-by-step tutorial.
How to import MXF file to Edius Pro?

I tested many trial versions of video softwares on the market and finally I decided to pay for Pavtube Video Converter Ultimate. Because it not only can transcode MXF to MP4, MOV, F4V, AVI for Edius Pro, it also can turn XAVC/XAVC-S/XAVC-L, MKV, MXF, MTS, H.265/HEVC 4K video or other videos to Edius Pro, Premiere Pro CC, FCP X. Yeah, now you know my hobby. I am a video recreation and reproduce fan and I have many video editing tools. Besides that, it also allows me to do some simple video processing before outputting the target video, like trimming video footage, cropping black area and adding watermark.
When you succeed in installing the app, now follow the next steps:
Step 1: Import source MXF file to the app
Open the program, click “File” menu, from its drop-down option, select “Add Video/Audio” to load MXF to the program.
Step 2: Select output format
From “Format” bar drop-down option, choose one of Edius Pro 6/7/8 supported file formats such as “Common Video” > “MPEG-4 Movie (*.mp4)” to output.
Tip: Click “Settings” to open “Profile Settings” window, here you can adjust output video codec, size, bitrate, frame rate and audio codec, sample rate, bit rate and channels.
Step 3: Trim and crop video (Optional)
If you also need do some simple video processing before outputting, you can click “Edit” to open the video editor window. The “Trim” feature allows users to decide where to start and where to end when converting the selected clip. The “Crop” facility enables users to get rid of the black edges and unwanted area of the image. And there are still other facilities. Just try by yourselves.
Step 4: Start to change MXF to Edius Pro supported MPEG-4
After all the settings is completed, back to the main interface. Hit right-bottom “Convert” button to start to change MXF to to MPEG-4 MP4 for Edius Pro.
Now, you can import your MXF file to Edius Pro to edit. Hope your recreated love video can satisfy your girlfriend.
