Stream BD 3D Backup/ISO via Universal Media Server on 3D TV/WMP/Plex

Question from videohelp.com: “I have tried to read up on media streaming via Universal Media Server and have not been able to figure this one out. I hopefully now know how to rip a 3D Bluray to my hard drive although this has been a challenge – cannot seem to get the 3D to play. I’m using Universal Media Server for most streaming and am playing with Plex and WMP a bit as well. I have had no success playing the hard drive back-up as a 3D bluray.

Is there a way to stream and play these BD 3D Backup/ISO via UMS to my home theatre system in 3D? Any thoughts as to why I cannot play them back. The 3D’s are purchased copies, region 2 that I bought from Amazon UK by mistake. Last thing, this is streamed wirelessly through the house.”

The problems we need to solve: 

1. BD 3D backup/ISO can’t be played via Universal Media Server on 3D TV 
2. Can’t stream BD 3D backup/ISO via Universal Media Server with Plex or WMP
3. Can’t play Blu-ray 3D backup/ISO with Universal Media Server due to Blu-ray region code.
4. Can’t stream and play BD 3D backup/ISO via UMS to home theatre system in 3D for format incompatibility.



Universal Media Server is a media server capable of serving videos, audio and images to any DLNA-capable device. It can stream to many devices including PS3, PS4, Microsoft Xbox One and 360, TVs (Samsung, Panasonic, Sony, Vizio, LG, Philips, Sharp), smart phones (iPhone, Android, etc.), Blu-ray players, and more. So many Blu-ray collectors would like to backup their physical Blu-ray discs to Universal Media Server, if needed, it will be 3D format, and then to stream the Blu-ray 3D backups/ISO on 3D TV, Plex, WMP, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 via UMS. 

Copying Blu-ray to UMS is easy with a Blu-ray Copier (Learn Blu-ray Copier Software vs. Blu-ray Ripper Software). However, it not mean that only if you copied Blu-ray to UMS, you can stream the Blu-ray 3D backups via UMS on 3D TV/Plex/WMP in that the Blu-ray 3D backups maybe BDMV folder, M2TS file, or ISO image, all of which are not friendly format to 3D TV, Plex and WMP. Thus, some Blu-rays are locked by region code so that your media players with another region code won’t be able to play these Blu-ray 3D backups/ISO via UMS. Just like the above question said when your 3D’s are purchased copies, region 2 from Amazon UK, your region 1 3D TV, Plex and WMP in Ameria won’t play the region 2 Blu-ray 3D backup/ISO.

How to Put BD 3D Backup/ISO to Universal Media Server for 3D TV/WMP/Plex with suitble format

Convert BD 3D Backup/ISO to Universal Media Server for 3D TV/WMP/Plex

Step 1: Add BD 3D Backup/ISO

Click “File” to import your 3D BD 3D Backup/ISO to the Blu-ray to UMS Converter. Add serveral files at a time then you don’t need to add another later. You can choose desired subtitle/audio track or forced subtitle in the “Subtitle”, “Audio” and “Forced Subtitle” box below chapter list. 
Tip: All Blu-rays with region A, B, C can be loaded to the app. 



Step 2: Choose 3D format for 3D TV/Plex/WMP

No matter 3D TV or Plex/WMP, even PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 will support MP4. So when place Blu-ray backups/ISO to UMS in 3D, you’d better choose 3D MP4. Navigate to “Format” > “3D Video” > “3D SIde-by-Side Video(*.mp4)” in order to play Blu-ray 3D backups/ISO via UMS with 3D TV/Plex/WMP.
